The G-List-O-Stuff: Bring Some 'Madness' Home

I'm admitatly not a big fan of watching sports on TV and graduated from college a long time ago, but I do think that March Madness can be a lot of fun for everyone. 

My husband and I started a tradition years ago where we went head-to-head with our brackets and the winner got to choose the location or restaurant for a night out. This was before we were parents and today any night out is a win for both of us. We mixed it up and brought in another couple for a "battle of the sexes" match. The winning sex gets to take a fun weekend trip somewhere. Last year, the women won and we enjoyed a fabulous time in New York City shopping and dining.

It's fun to have a bit of friendly competition and the "prize" doesn't have to be as pricey as a trip (ours was just an excuse for a kid-free getaway) it can be as simple as allowing the winner to choose their favorite meal, be the "King" or "Queen of the Day," or just get out of chores. It's fun to watch games together or simply monitor the results and scores.

The play-in games started Tuesday, but the real bracket action begins Thursday. Hurry up and have everyone fill out their own bracket (download from ESPN here).

You don't have to know a thing about basketball to do this or win. I fill out my brackets based on very strategic factors like if I like the team's colors, if I like the city or if I ever visited the school (cue my husband's eye-rolling).

Make a game out of it with the kids and enjoy bringing the madness home this year!
