Police Make Underage Alcohol Sale Arrests at Del Ray-Arlandria Area Stores

Alexandria police conduct alcohol compliance operation of 40 city businesses.

Alexandria police made arrests at four businesses in the Del Ray-Arlandria area on Thursday during an operation conducted at 40 businesses throughout the city targeting the illegal sale of alcohol to minors.

Arrests were made at the East Monroe Avenue Giant, 24 Hour Express Mart located at 4007 Mount Vernon Ave., and at 7-Eleven convenience stores located at 1025 W. Glebe Rd. and 3421 Mount Vernon Ave.

Police instructed informants under 21 years old but older than 18 to enter the businesses and attempt to purchase alcoholic beverages. If asked for identification, the informant showed the clerk legal identification revealing that they were under 21. If a sale was completed, officers entered the business and charged the sellers.
