Alexandria Police Investigating Armed Robbery at Marino's

Suspect may have fired a shot with a handgun while exiting the scene.

Marino’s Pizza and Subs on Jefferson Davis Highway was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday night and the suspect may have fired a single shot while exiting the scene.

At around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, Alexandria police responded to Marino’s, which is located at 3100 Jefferson Davis Highway, after receiving a report of an armed robbery.

Witnesses reported that the suspect entered the carryout eatery and demanded money. The suspect fled the scene in the direction of Wesmond Drive with an unknown amount of cash, according to police.

A police spokesperson said there was a report of a single shot fired outside the business just after the suspect exited the restaurant. However, a search of the area found no evidence of a fired shot.

No one was injured in the incident.

According to a message from police to the Lynhaven Citizens Association, the suspect is described as a black male, 5-foot-10 to 6-feet tall and weighing 230 to 240 pounds. The suspect was seen wearing a plain, white T-shirt with a long-sleeve blue shirt underneath, motorcycle gloves and a white knit cap with black trim.
