Scenes from a Snow Day in Alexandria

Alexandrians weren’t afraid to get out and about in the snow that blanketed the city Tuesday. Residents received a few morning hours to load up on supplies before the white stuff began to fall and swirl.

And as it came down, the federal workers and school children given the day off made their way around town with their dogs, sleds and snow shovels.

By nightfall, a little less than 3 inches were recorded at nearby Regan National Airport.

Citizens could be a little less active on Wednesday, as subzero wind chills are expected late Tuesday and into Wednesday morning.
