ReplyOf course, if City Councils since the mid 90s had cared one iota about the residents of Del Ray, they would never have allowed the developers to plow through an all residential area just so the developers could build more. Nothing will ever correct the onslaught of traffic. It will just continue to worsen as Potomac Yard is developed. All this is just to pacify us.

ReplyWow! Potomac still exists? Maybe those of us actually living in Potomac should elect our own Town Council that wouldn't sell us out to developers piece by piece and have a civic association run by and for the citizens of Potomac instead of residents of Mount Ida and the Del ray Business Association. If we act fast, we might be able to save what is left of a once lovely little town before it is too late.

CCB- in answer to your question, I do indeed refute your charges. You failed to produce a single reliable source to back up the two stories. Nor, for that matter did any of your cohorts.

I went on Google to check out the "well documented" reports on Moran's allegedwifebeating. I admit to only going through the first three pages of sources before my eyes glazed over. Wow, what sources. Right up there with your basic supermarket tabloids. I did not see anything remotely resembling a reliable source. I noticed that one commenter did indeed offer a source that seemed to be ignored. "Public record" indeed. I would think that everyone would want to be above this sort of "sources".

CCB, Thank you. Your comment proved my point better than I could have possibly done myself. Hope everyone has a good weekend. I think we all need it after the week that has just been.

No, Ms. Tener, the residents in 1976 didn't make unsubstantiated comments about people nor did they insult them. If you please reread my initial comment, you will notice that I was speaking of a general trend, not specifically. And, by the way, people back then actively opposed child abuse and such but were careful to report it to the proper authorities rather than blasting it across public media without any idea if it were true or not. What seems to be happening now that we have social media in the form of the Patch, people seem to be using it to take pot shots at people they dislike for some reason or another. I am very, very, uncomfortable with that and it gives a bad air to the whole Del Ray area. Some of the remarks that have appeared in the Patch over the last year have had little to do with the story at hand but rather have focused on other people's comments, and maligning the subject of the stories. This is not useful civic dialogue which is, I believe, something the Patch waste trying to achieve.

Judging from the comments section of the last week or so, I would have to say that many of Del Ray's current residents are certainly different than the people I knew when I moved here in June of 1976. It is scary.

Perhaps, as much as I hate the pollution and chance of a really terrible accident at the site, at least Council is getting a taste of how citizens who live in development zones in the City feel when they try to deal with Council, staff, or the Planning Commission. I guess it is too much to hope that Council might learn something here.
