Transportation policy is something I've been following for as long as I could construct a coherent thought. When most people travel, they admire the scenery. I look at how the roads or rails are laid out. Or how well the airport works.

Sad, I know. But there's nothing so crucial to society as communication, and transportation plays a big role in that. It's also one of the most bungled aspects of public policy in the US. I aim to change that.

To that effort, I have been Chairman of the Alexandria Transportation Commission, member of the Alexandria Traffic & Parking Board, and a member of the Citizens Advisory Committee to the Washington Metropolitan Area Council of Government's Transportation Planning Board. I started the TrafficSnark blog in 2012, now hosted by Patch, in an effort to bring some sanity to our transportation policymaking. I have a long road ahead of me.
