Mike, that is my argument. The law then says that it is a civil union or contract then why is it only between a man and woman? What is this component based on then? The government should have a vested interest in this as well as lawyers, courts, etc. The GOV should simply state "go to court PAY your fees and bang your now married. Yet they are basing a principal based on some basis, what is it?

ReplyIt is said that we have sides demanding a separation of church and state ALL the time in this country but are fine with the Government telling us if we can be wed or not. When did love and being with a person in a committed relationship become illegal or immoral? What right does any Government have to dictate this? On what principal? A Church, Mosque, or Synagogue may wish to exclude you from the faith that they follow but NO government, especially this Government should be involved in this by law based on no relevant basis other than religion. Maybe I am missing something here but I think that the constitutionality of any law like this comes to question for me.

ReplyAffordable housing in Del Ray? You are kidding right? I lived there and it was not that affordable when it was old. The Calvert is owned by UDR and they are one of the worst slum lord companies in the NOVA area. They charge HUGE prices and with the construction taking longer and obviously more expensive the rent on a one bedroom will be more than likely 3k.

ReplyI have been using the laundromat there for since I moved here for years. I am friends with the owner and his family, this is both aggravating and disheartening as Del Ray has stated since I have been here that they like the small town feel. It seems that if this is allowed to happen the people here are just looking to be a little McLean. Del Ray has a WONDERFUL local drug store RIGHT on the Avenue. WHY does it need another BIG BOX store???

ReplyFunny how politicans think that the state is better than the local goverment yet they turn and say that the feds are better than the states...seems VERY hypocritcal to me now that it effects THEM personally.
