Planning on catching the Metro to get around this Presidents Day weekend? Here’s what to expect. There will be no work on the Yellow Line this weekend. Monday, Presidents' Day, Metro will operate on a Saturday schedule. According to a Metro news release: On Presidents' Day, Monday, February 18, Metrorail service will operate on a Saturday schedule. The system will open at 5 a.m. and close at midnight. Metrobus service will operate on a "Saturday Supplemental" schedule; customers should check timetables for details. Metro just issued the following notice about track work on the Orange Line for Sunday: "Orange Line single tracking on Sunday, Feb. 10, has been cancelled. As a result, Orange Line trains will operate normally on Sunday (no single tracking) on a regular schedule. Single tracking will take place as planned after 10 p.m. Friday and all day Saturday." -Shaun   more ›

What's Up With the Metro: Jan. 11 - Jan. 13

A look at what you need to know about Metro this weekend.

Taking the Metro to get around this weekend? Here's what you need to know. According to a Metro news release: Red Line Red Line trains will single track through two work zones: Throughout the weekend, trains between Shady Grove and Glenmont will operate every 24 minutes. Between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, additional trains will operate between Van Ness and NoMa-Gallaudet, resulting in service an average of every 12 minutes between those stations. Customers traveling through either work zone should allow 15 minutes of additional travel time. Blue Line Buses will replace Blue Line trains between Pentagon and Rosslyn to allow for NTSB-recommended track circuit replacement, fastener replacement and joint elimination. Blue Line …
