Boathouse Eyed for Potomac River Virginia Shoreline

The National Park Service is seeking public input on the placement of a potential boathouse along the Potomac River—including one site in Alexandria.

The National Park Service, already considering a boathouse zone along the Potomac in Washington, D.C., is now setting its sites on Arlington or Alexandria, too. On Tuesday, the Park Service will hold a public scoping meeting on "proposed siting and construction of a public facility for non-motorized boats on the Virginia shoreline of the Potomac River," according to the project website. The meeting will be at Washington-Lee High School from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Congress tasked the Park Service in 1998 with identifying sites in Arlington and in 2002 the agency published a feasibility study for the area.
