Second lady gives keynote address for PFLAG conference at the Westin in Old Town
Second Lady Jill Biden spoke out for supportive parenting and against school bullying Friday as the keynote speaker at the biannual national convention of Parents, Families and Friends of Gays and Lesbians. Biden, a local college English professor, cited a recent open letter from a PFLAG father to America’s youth. The man wrote that he had two great sons—one gay and one straight—and that their parents loved each child equally. “At its core, it’s such a simple message, ‘We love our sons,’” she said. “But that acceptance and support can make all the difference. Actually, encouraging marriage among the homosexual demographic may *reduce* HIV/AIDS infections by reducing promiscuity within that demographic, possibly. Your children are not going to be turned gay by someone else: either they are or they aren't homosexual, already.
