Mexican and Peruvian Restaurant Planned for North Del Ray
Proposal calls for overhaul of Mount Vernon Avenue building.
More Mexican food may be on its way to Del Ray. Jose Mario Cabero and Jose Guillermo Cabero submitted a permit application to Alexandria in late October to renovate the building located at 3401 Mount Vernon Ave. and turn it into a restaurant specializing in Mexican and Peruvian cuisine. According to the permit, the renovation would be significant, overhauling a 1,200-square-foot wooden building with a basement that was built in 1920. In the renovation process, roughly 203 square feet of the existing building would be demolished and an addition of 521 square feet would be constructed. Much less ambitious from 2/2010. Best wishes to them:-) Read the application 'Restaurant Supplement'; appears the applicant anticipate high volume of take-out rather than sit, eat & hang (2 tables/4, 8 bar/counter stools). With only 3 std + 1 HC parking space, should add requirement to install bike racks so they can live up to claiming "no est. peak evening impact". Oh, and employees must take … more ›
