Building gingerbread houses with the family

While I was touring the White House a few weeks ago, I stopped to admire the beautiful gingerbread house that White House executive pastry chef Bill Yosses put together with his team for the President Obama and the his family. Countless hours were spent planning and making this amazing replica of the White House. If only I had been given that much time when I worked at Blair House.  Each year, I was allocated exactly 12 hours to produce a gingerbread house that would stand in the entrance way for all guests to view during the holiday season. I envied the time the White House crew had, but now I envy the 12 hours I once had. If only we all had an extra 12 hours to devote to a gingerbread house.
