Small Businesses Help Promote April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Zoe Boutique and Diva Designer Consignments help get the word out through Denim Day, April 25, and the Clothesline Project.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and the city's Department of Community and Human Services has partnered with some local businesses to shed some light on the issue. Zoe Boutique and the city are working together to promote National Denim Day, part of a sexual violence and prevention awareness campaign on April 25. The Old Town store will showcase displays from Messages of Hope showing jeans decorated by survivors and supporters and offer visitors information on the campaign and the issues it focuses on. Zoe will be open special hours 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. as part of the Denim Day observance.  The Sexual Assault Response and Awareness Program of Alexandria is sponsoring the Clothesline Project, which displays T-shirts painted by women …
