Sheriff's Office Seeks Public Comment as Part of Accreditation Process
The Sheriff’s Office is asking for comments from interested community members during its on-site assessment this month.
The Alexandria Sheriff’s Office is seeking re-accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, an international organization facilitating the pursuit of law enforcement excellence. CALEA first accredited the Alexandria Sheriff’s Office in July 1990 and it has been reaccredited every term since then, most recently in 2009. As part of the re-accreditation process, the Sheriff’s Office is asking for comments from interested community members during its on-site assessment. A team of assessors from CALEA will arrive on Aug. 19, and will remain on-site through Aug. 22, to examine aspects of the office’s policy and procedures, management, operations, and support services related to law enforcement.
