Titans Earn Berth into Northern Region Tournament

T.C. Williams tops Lee 9-2 in Patriot District playoff game.

The T.C. Williams High School baseball team topped Robert E. Lee 9-2 Wednesday night at Simpson Stadium in a second-round game of the Patriot District tournament, according to The Washington Post.   “Far from perfect, but it was a memorable last game at home,” tweeted T.C. Williams ace Alec Grosser, who emerged as a major league pitching prospect this season. “Thanks to everyone that came out.” With the victory, the Titans advance to the district semifinals and also clinched a berth into the 16-team Northern Region tournament. T.C. Williams will travel to Burke to face Lake Braddock at 5 p.m. Friday, May 17, in a Patriot District semifinal game. The winner will play Monday, May 20 at Lake Braddock in the district final.

Why Are MLB Scouts Flocking to Del Ray?

T.C. Williams senior Alec Grosser has emerged as a major league pitching prospect.

Major League Baseball pitching scouts are flocking to Simpson Stadium Park in Del Ray this spring to see T.C. Williams High School right-hander Alec Grosser.  The lanky pitcher emerged as a big-league prospect in July following a commanding outing in the Commonwealth Games in Salem, Va., according to The Washington Post. Despite committing to play for George Mason University, Grosser didn’t draw much notice from talent evaluators until the July game where his pitches tickled the mid-90-mph range, baffled hitters with late movement and sent scouts into a frenzy. “A year ago, if someone had told me I’d be in a spot like this, I would have been like, ‘What are you talking about?’” Grosser told The Washington Post. T.C. Williams Senior Signs With Coastal Carolina

Titans wide receiver Landon Moss will join the Coastal Carolina football team in the fall.

T.C. Williams High School senior Landon Moss is headed to Coastal Carolina University to play football.  Moss, who is listed at 6-foot-4 and 195 pounds, signed his letter of intent with the Conway, S.C., school on Wednesday’s National Signing Day. “Officially a Coastal Carolina Chanticleer!!” Moss tweeted early Wednesday. The All-Patriot District receiver is one of 30 players in the Chanticleers’ 2013 recruiting class.  “I think we’ve got a really, really good recruiting class,” Coastal Carolina football coach Joe Moglia said. “If a freshman is good enough to start, he will start. Titans Suffer Fifth Straight Loss

T.C. Williams falls to Woodson on the road.

The T.C. Williams football team fell to W.T. Woodson 28-21 on Saturday in Fairfax, according to The Washington Post. The loss was the fifth consecutive defeat for the Titans, who fell to 0-3 in the Patriot District and 1-5 overall. Dealo Robertson led the Titans with 164 yards on 24 carries and a touchdown. Quarterback Alec Grosser completed 21 of 36 passes for 147 yards and two touchdowns in the loss. Napolean Augustine rushed for 148 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries to lead the Cavaliers (1-5, 1-4 Patriot District) to their first win of the season. The Titans return to action on Saturday when they play host to West Springfield (5-1, 3-0 PD) at Parker-Gray Stadium. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
