Why Are MLB Scouts Flocking to Del Ray?

T.C. Williams senior Alec Grosser has emerged as a major league pitching prospect.

Major League Baseball pitching scouts are flocking to Simpson Stadium Park in Del Ray this spring to see T.C. Williams High School right-hander Alec Grosser.  The lanky pitcher emerged as a big-league prospect in July following a commanding outing in the Commonwealth Games in Salem, Va., according to The Washington Post. Despite committing to play for George Mason University, Grosser didn’t draw much notice from talent evaluators until the July game where his pitches tickled the mid-90-mph range, baffled hitters with late movement and sent scouts into a frenzy. “A year ago, if someone had told me I’d be in a spot like this, I would have been like, ‘What are you talking about?’” Grosser told The Washington Post.
