What is expected: since there was no sex, it won't be charged as a felony. It will be charged as aRead More misdemeanor but he will still go in as a sex offender. The only thing I feel bad for is his family—his wife and his kids. They're the sweetest people ever. Haha. Gail, you're very peculiar.

Gail: I'm no lawyer, but usually if one admits guilt, there is not a trial.....one can beRead More sentenced, but there is no trial....don't know enough about specifics in this case to predict what will happen.....I don't even assume, if Josie is a TCW student, that he/she knows the facts either.....will wait to see what happens......and OFF TO VOTE!

Linda, to clarify, do you mean the playground opened yesterday, June 5?
Drew Hansen (Editor) June 6, 2013 at 02:02 pm
There was some miscommunication with the school's front office. The playground is now open. ThereRead More will be a grand opening ribbon cutting toward the end of June.
Linda Kelly June 6, 2013 at 03:58 pm
Yes! The kids gave it great reviews. Official ribbon cutting to thank all the community supportersRead More to follow, but the playground is open as of yesterday.

After 12:15 at the Big Flea, everything left is FREE so some local non-profits come at the end ofRead More the day to collect the remaining donations. One of the wonderful things about this fundraiser is that every family, regardless of income, can contribute to it - by donating items, volunteering time and/or buying the items being sold below retail prices. Please consider supporting the businesses that support student learning in Alexandria, (see http://mvbigflea.wordpress.com/) and many thanks to our neighbors who shopped at the Big Flea!

Congratulations to the 5th graders at Maury. I am impressed by and enjoy your artwork each time IRead More drive by your school. What a great offering to the community as well as an incredible learning opportunity for you.

Really? Who cares. Why? In my line of work the more "paper" I see attached to peopleRead More the stupider they actually are. Stupid in life, stupid in their job, elevated to spots well above them because some paper pusher liked their paper. They get by on the job because of their paper even though people in the know mock them. Sure they make more money, but everyone else knows they are STOOPID. I appluad Mr. W. and deplore DelRayRez. Mark has made his way in this world and done a bang up job of it. You complaining about his lack of a piece of paper makes me think you are insecure. Did Jesus Christ have a GED? Hmm?? This is, after all, DC--actual experience not required. Kudos to Mark and thanks.

If a celebrity's reminding high school students about the value of education will encourage a fewRead More students to stay in school or work a little harder to do better, then I am all for it. Any extra source of encouragement can make a difference. It was incredibly generous and kind of Mr. Wahlberg to spend time at TC.
