The live music upstairs is what makes this place extra special. The only problem, it's only one night a week. Wednesday and Thursday night music - just like it was in the ol' days of the Star - would be a welcome addition!

I've dined at Evening Star for years, however, my recent dining experience at the New & Improved Evening Star was neither. It used to be 4-5 star restaurant, it no longer holds that ranking. The food was average, the portions were small while the prices were augmented. The noise was deafening. Both my dinner partner and I commented that we'd not rush back there any time soon. I am sure the bar is fun for the drinking crowd. For an excellent duck entree that's more delicious, an ample portion and costs less, I'd highly recommend YVE's BISTRO off of Eisenhower Ave., Alex. If you've lived in DC long enough, you'll know Yves from his Georgetown landmark Au Pied de Cochon, historic in its own right. Yves and Julia were most likely friends!
