Run for Shelter, 'A Broadway Christmas Carol' and Artfête

Plus, two Alexandria farmers markets wrap up their seasons on Sunday.

Artfête — Stop by Artfête, The Art League’s Holiday Party and Open House, where the League opens up its Madison Annex (305 Madison St.) to show off where all the creative magic happens. The event, which runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22 will feature artist demonstrations, live music by Orquesta Tropikiimba, refreshments and more. The event also kicks off The Art League’s holiday ceramic and jewelry sales, which run throughout the weekend. Visit The Art League’s website for more information.

Mike Elosh — This local singer-songwriter, who does some great covers and has some clever songs of his own, visits St. Elmo’s Coffee Pub (2300 Mount Vernon Ave.) for a free show beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22. Check out Mike’s website for samples of some of his tunes.

"A Broadway Christmas Carol" — This holiday staple recently opened at Alexandria’s MetroStage (1201 N. Royal St.). The show crosses the Dickens classic with parodies of 33 Broadway show tunes. Tickets are $50 and available through the MetroStage website or by calling 703-548-9044. Runs through Dec. 22 with shows throughout the weekend.

Run For Shelter — The Run for Shelter 10K, 5K and Fun Run kicks off at 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23 at the corner of Eisenhower Avenue and Swamp Fox Road. Held in association with Pacers Events, Run for Shelter benefit’s Carpenter’s Shelter. For race and registration information, check out the Run For Shelter website. Registration will be available day-off.

Celebrating 50 Years — The Why Not Shop (200 King Street) is celebrating 50 years in Old Town on Saturday, Nov. 23. From 10 p.m. to 6 p.m., store staff will be raffling off prizes. Farmers MarketsThe Four Mile Run Farmers and Artisans Market and West End Farmers Market will each wrap up their respective seasons on Sunday. The Four Mile Run market runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Four Mile Run Park along Mount Vernon Avenue. The West End market runs from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Ben Brenman Park.
