For Your Weekend: Sixth Annual Taste of Del Ray

This Sunday, don't forget your appetite when you go to the Sixth Annual Taste of Del Ray. Sponsored by the Del Ray Business Association (DRBA), Taste of Del Ray will take place from 1 – 3 p.m. at Mt. Vernon and E. Oxford.

This year's Celebrity Judge is Jessica Sidman, Food Editor/Young and Hungry columnist for the Washington City Paper.  While she will choose the Judge’s Choice Award, each ticket holder will get to vote for their favorite and determine the People’s Choice Award.

More than a dozen neighborhood restaurants will participate in the outdoor competition that will name the 2014 Judge’s Choice and People’s Choice awards. Ticket holders will enjoy a variety of tastes and cast their votes in the lot behind Union Bank (formerly the Virginia Commerce Bank) at 2401 Mt. Vernon Avenue & E. Oxford Avenue with approximately 14 restaurants planning to serve up their best dishes.

Advance tickets are $10 per adult and $5 for children under 12 years of age and can now be purchased at the Del Ray Farmer’s Market during market hours (Mt. Vernon & E. Oxford) or the Del Ray Variety (203 East Custis Avenue).  Tickets are $15 on the day of the event, sales begin at 12:30 p.m.  

Participating restaurants include many of the Washington, DC area’s most popular restaurants including Cheesetique, Del Ray Pizzeria, Evening Star, Pork Barrel Barbeque, Rosemarino d’Italia, Seva Café, The Happy Tart, and last year's winners Taqueria Poblano and Evening Star.  New neighborhood favorites including Seva Café and Kaizen Tavern will also be in attendance.

Performing in the lot of the Del Ray Farmer’s Market during the Taste of Del Ray will be one of the area’s most popular bands, the Irish Breakfast Band.
