Titans Hold On, Top Atoms

T.C. Williams football stays undefeated in Patriot District play.

Junior quarterback Samuel Deen stepped in for injured starter Darius Holland on Friday and led the T.C. Williams football team to a 20-14 road win over Annandale, according to The Washington Post.

With the victory, the Titans improved to 4-1 overall and 2-0 on the Patriot District.

Deen helped the Titans run out to a 20-0 lead, connecting with wideout Terry Jordon on a 9-yard TD pass in the first quarter.

After a 24-yard field goal from Zachary Eisenhour, Jonathan Henry increased the Titans’ lead to 17-0 with a 20-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.

Eisenhour added a 29-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to extend the Titans’ lead.

The Atoms (1-4, 0-2 Patriot) found the end zone twice in the fourth quarter, but the Titans were able to hang on for the win.

Senior tailback Malik Carney, a North Carolina commit, led the Titans on the ground with 159 yards on 18 carries.

The 4-1 start has the Titans thinking about the playoffs, something the team hasn’t sniffed in more than two decades.

“If we make the playoffs, that would be great, but we’re not going to be satisfied with just that,” Carney told the Post. “At this point, we’re striving for the best and looking to go 9-1 and then make a run in the playoffs. We’ve still got some guys growing into their positions and staying humble, but we also know our goals and know how special this team can be.”

T.C. Williams looks to stay undefeated in the Patriot District when it plays host to South County (4-1, 2-0 Patriot) at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 12 at Parker-Gray Memorial Stadium.
