Aces’ Co-Founder to Talk Baseball at Al’s Steak House

Pat Malone will be at Del Ray restaurant Tuesday

Alexandria Aces’ co-founder Pat Malone will be at in Del Ray Tuesday to talk about the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League and the Aces' upcoming 2012 season.

Malone will be at he restaurant from 5 to 7:30 p.m. He will be handing out an Aces' 2012 season schedule to all cusomters buying subs at Al's during the evening dinner rush.

"As executive director of the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League, it's always great for me to come back to my roots, here in Alexandria, where I helped to start up the Aces," Malone said in a statement. "The Aces will have their fifth season in Alexandria this year, and I look forward to catching many games at Frank Mann Field during the summer. I hope that all local baseball fans can come by Al's on the 31st to see me and talk about the Aces and the Nats."

Al’s Steak House is located at 1504 Mt. Vernon Ave.

The Alexandria Aces begin their fifth season on June 6 against the D.C. Grays, the league's newest franchise. It will be the Grays’ historic 'first-ever' league game, at newly-renovated Hoy Field, on the campus of Gallaudet University, in Washington, D.C.

The Aces' first home contest at Frank Mann Field is set for opening night, June 8, against the Herndon Braves.

The Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League will begin its eighth season in 2012 as a wooden bat summer program made up of amateur players from a variety of colleges and universities from throughout the country. The league is regionally located in the Baltimore/Washington metropolitan area. Teams in the league are the Alexandria Aces, Baltimore Redbirds, Bethesda Big Train, D.C. Grays, Herndon Braves, Rockville Express, Silver Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts, Southern Maryland Nationals, Vienna River Dogs and Youse's Maryland Orioles.

Additionally, the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Summer Baseball and is partially funded by Major League Baseball.
