Each Alexandria City School Board member is assigned to work as a liaison to at least two public schools.
Members also serve on board committees, community task forces and other organizations.
With the newly elected School Board, some of the assignments have changed recently.
For example, School Board member Bill Campbell has been assigned to Lyles-Crouch and George Washington, serves on the Budget and Audit Committee and works closely with Councilman John Chapman.
