Dominion Virginia Power donates $20,000 to Assistance League of Northern Virginia to expand program benefitting students living in poverty.

Dominion Virginia Power presented the Assistance League of Northern Virginia with a check for $20,000 on Thursday to expand its Weekend Food for Kids program to Cora Kelly School.

Weekend Food for Kids sends bags of nutritious food home with students living in poverty at four Northern Virginia schools. Cora Kelly School has about 320 students living in poverty, according to Principal Brandon Davis.

“Poverty should not be a barrier for these kids,” Davis said on Thursday.
