T.C. Williams Band Raising Funds For New Uniforms

Paul Haire, owner of , made a $1,000 donation to the marching band on Sunday following the Del Ray Halloween Parade.

The band is currently raising funds to replace 11-year-old uniforms that are showing their age.

At Sunday's parade, the T.C. Williams band dressed as zombies to bring awareness to their uniform needs. Some members wore signs reading: “Help us get new uniforms. Our old ones are rotting.”

The band marched just behind U.S. Rep. Jim Moran, Alexandria Mayor Bill Euille and other elected officials.

“You may have noticed they don’t have the uniforms they would like and we would like,” Moran said before announcing Haire's donation at a post-parade ceremony.

Beyond the tunes, the Titans also volunteered to clean up the field next to following Sunday’s festivities.

“There’s no better team in the world than a band,” Haire said.

The cost for new uniforms for the entire band is expected to fall between $20,600 and $30,000, according to the T.C. Williams Band Boosters website. The boosters have already raised about $6,000 over the last two years.
