'Mighty Titans' Authors Holding Book Signing Saturday

St. Elmo's Coffee Pub is hosting the book signing from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

The authors of “Mighty Titans,” a compilation of stories conveying students’ challenges and successes in the classroom at T.C. Williams High School in the mid-2000s, will be signing copies of the book at St. Elmo’s Coffee Pub in Del Ray from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 30.

Roderic Brame, who taught Earth Science at T.C. Williams from 2003 to 2006, wrote and compiled the book with his wife, Rachel.

While working at T.C. Williams, Brame called his students “Mighty Titans.” The book is a personal narration about programs designed to improve learning and teaching in a diverse, urban setting. Along with his narration, the book contains testimonies from 21 former T.C. Williams students.

Brame discusses the importance of teachers and administrators creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment. He cites former T.C. Williams principal John Porter as an example of an engaging administrator who respected and interacted with students.

An advocate for improving science, technology, engineering and mathematics programs, Brame also offers recommendations for educators and students at all levels on creating success.
