Mayor Assists in Swearing-in ACDS Student Council

Alexandria Mayor Bill Euille visits Alexandria Country Day School.

received the help of Mayor Bill Euille on Monday in swearing in its new student council.

Euille, who said he got his start in government in his elementary school council, advised the 12 students who make up the ACDS council to “get involved, make a difference and stand up for what’s right.”

Alexandria’s mayor has participated in the annual swearing-in ceremony at ACDS for nearly every year of the school’s 30-year history. Euille has participated in the last nine ceremonies. He was joined on Monday by Scott Baytosh, the Head of School at ACDS.

The 2012-13 ACDS student council includes: President Lauren Ashkenazi, Vice President Temple Palacio, Secretary Oliver Shackley, Treasurer Abby Stephenson, eighth-grade rep Ikea Grigsby, seventh-grade reps Mabry Griffin, Alex Mathews and Ellie Smeallie, sixth-grade reps Camille Ashkenazi and Rachel Suleymanov, and fifth-grade reps Isabela Dunlap and Tenny Ros.
