The Marching Titans are making themselves right at home in the Big Easy.

The T.C. Williams High School band took second place in their class in the field band category at a battle of the bands competition in prelude to the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.

Alongside 13 other high school bands, the Marching Titans will perform a medley of tunes from The Beatles at halftime of Thursday’s Sugar Bowl game, including “Magical Mystery Tour,” I Saw Her Standing Three” and “Lady Madonna." The game is played at the Superdome.

The 80-member Marching Titans, directed by Carlos Gonzalez, left Alexandria on Dec. 29 for their trip. Along with the Sugar Bowl experience, the band has received opportunities to learn from nationally renowned adjudicators and explore the city that gave birth to jazz.

The Sugar Bowl, which features No. 3 Alabama and No. 11 Oklahoma, will be televised on ESPN beginning at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2.
