Alexandria Launches Hurricane Sandy Hotline

With Hurricane Sandy moving into the region, the City of Alexandria launched a storm hotline on Monday morning.

To report non-emergency issues related to the storm, Alexandria residents should call 703-746-4357. The city has activated its Emergency Operations Center.

To report police, fire or medical emergencies, residents should still call 911.

The city reminds residents to call Dominion Virginia Power at 866-366-4357 to report power outages.

A High Wind Warning and a Flood Watch are in effect for Alexandria through Tuesday evening. Residents are urged to stay at home and remain indoors as Hurricane Sandy enters the region. The Virginia State Police and VDOT are urging drivers to stay off the roads.

All Alexandria government facilities, public schools, courts, non-emergency services and public transportation services are closed or canceled Monday. In-person absentee voting will not take place on Monday. All trash collection services, including refuse, recycling and leaves, are suspended for Monday.
