Three people are in police custody following a police chase that emerged out of Old Town Saturday night that sent two people to the hospital.
The chase spurred from an incident that occurred shortly after 11 p.m. in the King Street corridor where a police officer attempted to pull over a suspicious vehicle, police spokesperson Ashley Hildebrandt said.
“They didn’t want to get pulled over, so they tried to ram the cruiser,” Hildebrandt said. “They didn’t hit the cruiser, but they managed to get by. The officer went after.”
The pursuit ended after the vehicle was involved in a collision with a civilian car and the police cruiser near the intersection of Duke Street and Callahan Drive, Hildebrandt said.
Two people in the civilian car were taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons, Hildebrandt said.
The driver and two passengers in the vehicle the sparked the pursuit were taken into police custody, Hildebrandt said.
Callahan Drive by the Masonic Memorial and a stretch of westbound Duke Street were closed to traffic early Sunday morning while police investigated the scene of the collision.
