Police Investigate Shooting in the Area of N. Fayette and Wythe Street

The victim was transported Tuesday night to an area hospital where he was released after treatment.

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred in the area of N. Fayette Street and N. Wythe Street on Tuesday, police said in a news release issued Wednesday afternoon.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, police responded for multiple calls of shots fired. A victim, a 17-year-old male, was located by police several blocks away. He was suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was released after treatment. 

The exact location of the shooting is unknown. Detectives and crime scene investigators continue to work in the area. The investigation is still in the initial phase.
