City officials and the Alexandria Police partnered to celebrate the 28th Annual National Night Out on Tuesday.

The celebration is part of a nationwide crime and drug prevention effort sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch.

Residents in more than 27 Alexandria neighborhoods turned on their porch lights, hosted neighborhood cookouts and sponsor block parties in support of National Night Out.
