Fire Crews Respond to Report of Smoke at Arlandria Shopping Center

Mount Vernon Avenue blocked to traffic as firefighters examine scene.

Fire crews responded to a report of smoke coming from a walk-in freezer at the Mount Vernon Village Center in Arlandria around 6:20 p.m. Thursday.

An Alexandria Fire Department spokesperson said it was likely a benign incident. Crews were exiting the scene within a half-hour of receiving a call.

Mount Vernon Avenue was blocked to traffic around the shopping center as a ladder truck was employed so firefighters could examine the roof over MOM’s Organic Market and the building’s HVAC system.
