Del Ray Man Arrested for Staging Bomb Threat at Fairfax Courthouse

Joe Edwin Honesty, 72, is being held without bond.

A Del Ray man was arrested Wednesday for staging a bomb threat at the Fairfax County Courthouse, police said.

Fairfax police responded to a reported bomb threat around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Officers, detectives and deputies developed information that led to the identification and arrest of Joe Edwin Honesty inside the courthouse, according to a press release.

Authorities believe an explosive device never existed in the case.  

Honesty, who lives in the 400 block of Clifford Avenue according to Fairfax County police, had a scheduled hearing Wednesday for charges of driving with a suspended or revoked license.

Honestly, 72, was charged with making a bomb threat and is held on no bond in the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, which is located next door to the courthouse.
