Charles Severance Set to Be Extradited to Virginia
West Virginia Supreme Court denies stay of extradition.
Barring any more legal action from his attorneys, Charles Severance, wanted for questioning in three high-profile homicides in Alexandria, will be extradited to Virginia Wednesday night from his jail cell in West Virginia.
Alexandria Police are investigating the homicides of residents Ruthanne Lodato, Ron Kirby and Nancy Dunning.
The West Virginia Supreme Court on Tuesday unanimously denied a stay of extradition by Severance, arrested on a Loudoun County gun possession charge.
Ohio County Circuit Court Judge James Mazzone ruled last week to extradite Severance. Loudoun County officials reportedly have 10 days to pick up Severance, the Washington Post reported.
At the time of his arrest, a spokesman for the City of Alexandria, Craig Fifer, said that Severance bears an “obvious physical resemblance” to a police sketch of a possible suspect in the Lodato killing, The Washington Post reported. He said that “a lot of people are asking if there’s a connection, and we’re looking into that.”
