Alexandria fire crews quickly extinguished a fire in the unit block of E. Linden Street Tuesday evening.
At 6:02 p.m., the Alexandria Fire Department received a call of smoke in a house. The first company on the scene witnessed smoke coming from the home and found a fire inside a wall, according to AFD spokesperson Michael Gerber. The fire fighters were able to extinguish the blaze in short order after opening the wall, Gerber said.
The residents of the house exited safely, Gerber said. They have been relocated with the help of friends or family.
Gerber said he didn’t have immediately have information on the cause of the fire or the estimated damage but expected more info later Tuesday evening.
Alexandria fire crews responded to a house fire in the 100 block of E. Linden Street in July.
