Rep. Jim Moran: "Members of Congress are Underpaid"

Bear in mind that Jim lives right here in Del Ray - arguably one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in the DMV. While you can say Del Ray is also home to fine folks of every socio-economic status (and it is), Rep. Moran is at the very top of that fiscal scale...

"I think the American people should know that the members of Congress are underpaid," Moran, who's announced he will leave office when the current Congress ends, told the newspaper Roll Call. "I understand that it's widely felt that they underperform, but the fact is that this is the board of directors for the largest economic entity in the world."

Rank-and-file members of Congress make a yearly salary of $174,000 -- well above the median household income in Washington, D.C., which between 2008 and 2012 was $64,267.
