Shop these fabulous finds under $50 and support the small businesses on Mt. Vernon Avenue on Saturday.

Before you blow all of your holiday cash on Black Friday purchases at large retailers, make sure you save some dough to support Small Business Saturday on Nov. 26 by shopping on Mt. Vernon Avenue.

I spent a few hours this past weekend strolling in and out of the Del Ray shops and found many fabulous finds for less than $50.

At boutique which specializes in women's apparel, accessories and gifts for all occasions, I found:

children’s gift and consignment shop had some of my favorite gifts to give children:

offers affordable antiques, garden accessories, home décor and gifts:

  • Another great parent-child gift set would be the Green Arbor Organic Herb Windowsill Garden Kit for $14 paired with the Veggie Tales kid garden for $8.
  • One of my favorite inventions of all time is the Lunchskins reusable sandwich bags for $10.
  • And although soaps and candles tend to be ‘overdone’ as gifts these soaps by Michael Design Works for $12 were wrapped in such beautiful paper that I couldn’t resist.

For unique gifts for your garden or home, has all of its holiday decorations and goods already displayed:

  • Grab some ornaments to decorate or top your gifts for under $20.
  • Consider wrapping some gifts in these vintage linens priced at $20 - $50.
  • Outside these ceramic pigs were squealing for a good home at $47 each.
  • The Green Toys dish set at $25 is made from 100 percent recycled milk containers.

I know this list heavily leans toward gifts for women and children but  that would be perfect for the males in your life.

The Avenue is filled with so many great products and some of the stores will be offering discounts for Small Business Saturday. As your shopping ‘broker’ I advise you to buy local this Turkey Day weekend.
