Alexandria Mayor Bill Euille Enters Congressional Race

Euille announces run on same day as Ebbin.

The red-hot 8th congressional District race just keeps getting hotter. Alexandria Mayor Bill Euille made it known to supporters Thursday that he's running.

“I’m in!” Euille said in an e-mail sent to supporters Thursday. “I wanted to let you know that I am running for the Democratic nomination for the Eighth Congressional District to replace my friend and a great public servant, Congressman Jim Moran.”

Thursday was also the day that state Sen. Adam Ebbin (D-Alexandria) announced his intention to run.

Already, state Del. Mark Sickles, state Del. Patrick Hope, an Arlington Democrat, state Del. Charniele Herring, an Alexandria Democrat and the outgoing chairwoman of the state party, and former Navy fighter pilot Bruce Shuttleworth, also of Arlington, have announced their intention to seek the seat.
