A Night at the Races — Fostering the Future Cruise

  • Where: Cherry Blossom Paddleboat, Old Town Alexandria
  • When: Friday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Why Go: All proceeds from this annual event will benefit The Fund for Alexandria’s Child.
  • Price: $75 per person.

Alexandria Citizens Band Concert

  • Why Go: This organization is celebrating 100 years with a free concert in front of Alexandria’s City Hall. 
  • Price: FREE

The Alexandria Singers present: “Red Carpet Pops!”

  • Where: First Baptist Church of Alexandria
  • When: Friday at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
  • Why Go: Featuring a variety of music from jazz to Broadway to current popular hits.
  • Price: $20 general admission; $25 reserved seating; $15 students, military, seniors; $5 children age 5 and under.

Youth Arts Festival

  • Where: Jefferson Houston School, Alexandria
  • When: Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.
  • Why Go: Featuring visual and performing artists from Alexandria City Public Schools.
  • Price: FREE.

Wine on the Water

  • Where: Alexandria Seaport Foundation, Alexandria
  • When: Saturday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Why Go: Enjoy this wine tasting party while supporting Alexandria Seaport Foundation programs for at-risk youth. 
  • Price: $55 per person.

Burke Centre Family Fun Night

  • Where: Burke Centre Ball Field, Burke
  • When: Friday starting at 6:30 p.m. (Rain Date: June 10)
  • Why Go: A family-friendly event featuring live music, food and a movie under the stars. 
  • Price: Admission is FREE.

Seussical the Musical

  • Where: Church of the Good Shepherd, Burke
  • When: Friday at 8 p.m. and Saturday at 3 p.m.
  • Why Go: The Good Shepherd Players present this musical based on various Dr. Seuss stories, including "Horton Hears a Who," "The Cat in the Hat" and more.
  • Price: $15 adults; $10 students.

Christy Hartman Myers Writing Workshop

  • Where: Gunston Hall Plantation, Lorton
  • When: Saturday from 8:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Why Go: Fourth- and fifth-grade students will learn how to write and illustrate their stories from a published author. The fee includes a snack, lunch and necessary materials.
  • Price: $15 per person. Registration required.

Pirate’s Day at Pohick Bay!

  • Where: Pohick Bay Regional Park, Lorton
  • When: Saturday, marina events from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Pool events from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Why Go: Visit a pirate camp and watch a pirate battle, then head over to the waterpark to prepare for an “attack” on the pool. 
  • Price: Marina admission is FREE for member jurisdictions. Waterpark admission is $6.75 to $8 per person

Gold Medal A Cappella Concert

  • Where: GMU Center for the Arts, Fairfax
  • When: Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
  • Why Go: Hosted by the acclaimed barbershop chorus the Alexandria Harmonizers, the show will offer a variety of musical selections, including barbershop classics and Broadway favorites.
  • Price: Tickets range from $29.50 to $34.

"Annie Jr."

  • Where: GMU Center for the Arts, Fairfax
  • When: Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m.
  • Why Go: This Stage Presence LLC production is based on the popular, family-friendly Broadway musical "Annie."
  • Price: $10 adults; $9 seniors and Mason students; $5 children ages 2 to 12.

  • Mount Vernon Nights presents westmain at Gristmill Park, Alexandria. Friday at 7:30 p.m. FREE.
  • Spotlight by Starlight presents Blue Sky 5 at Mason District Park, Annandale. Friday at 7:30 p.m. FREE.
  • Mount Vernon Nights presents Brother Joscephus and the Love Revival Revolution Orchestra at Workhouse Arts Center, Lorton.  Saturday at 7 p.m. FREE.
  • Spotlight by Starlight presents The Aloha Boys at Ossian Hall Park, Annandale. Saturday at 7:30 p.m. FREE.
  • Spotlight by Starlight presents The United States Air Force Band “Airmen of Note” at Mason District Park, Annandale. Sunday at 7:30 p.m. FREE.
