The Patents and Trademarks of Steve Jobs – Art and Technology that Changed the World

  • Where: National Inventors Hall of Fame and Museum, Alexandria
  • When: Friday, Jan. 6 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 7 from noon until 5:00 p.m.
  • Why Go: Tour this honoring the creativity and ingenuity of the late Steve Jobs.
  • Price: Admission is FREE

Alexandria Farmers Markets

  • Where: in Market Square on King Street, and on the corner of East Oxford and Mount Vernon avenues
  • When: Saturdays; Old Town from 5:30 to 10:30 a.m. and Del Ray from 8 a.m. to noon

Advent Calendar Closing Celebration and Silent Auction

  • When: Saturday, Jan. 7 from noon to 2 p.m.
  • Why Go: Twenty-four works of art produced by area schools, churches, and community organizations were revealed each day of the Advent calendar, and now these works of art are .  Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic.  Refreshments and family friendly activities will be available.

Storytelling Festival

ArtNotes presents “Shade Parade”

Winter Ranger Hike

  • Where: , Lorton
  • When: Sunday, Jan. 8 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Why Go: Meet at the Bayview Trail Head for a guided tour where you’ll learn about park wildlife and ways to preserve nature.  Please wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather.  You’ll also need a bottle of water and, of course, your camera.
  • Price:  The weekend parking fee for passenger vehicles is $4
