Sheriff's Office Makes Thanksgiving Delivery

Hopkins House will hand out food to needy families

The Alexandria Sheriff's Office turned a sports utility vehicle reserved for transporting prisoners into a delivery vehicle earlier this week to deliver turkeys and Thanksgiving trimmings to Hopkins House, which will distribute the food to needy families.

On Monday, Chief Deputy Lenny George and Deputy Sheriff George Burnham transported 60 turkeys and 120 bags of trimmings. On Tuesday, Undersheriff Tony Davis and Captain Frank Milano delivered another 30 turkeys and 60 bags.

The food was donated by Giant Foods to IBM staff in Germantown, Md. and Lockheed Martin in Manassas. The prepared packages were picked up by Sheriff's Office staff and delivered to the Alexandria Hopkins House.
