Prepare for an ugly morning commute because wintry mix is in the forecast.
The National Weather Service has placed a winter weather advisory in effect from 10 p.m. Monday night to 9 a.m. Tuesday for much of the Washington region, including Alexandria.
According to weather.com, the dreaded mix of snow, sleet and rain is expected to enter the area around 9 p.m. before switching over to freezing rain early Tuesday morning.
