Del Ray receives first flurries of a very mild winter.

6:20 p.m. update — Snow is expected to continue falling in Northern Virginia until about 7 p.m. and then change to rain between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. The chance of precipitation is 100 percent, with a total nighttime snow accumulation of less than a half-inch possible.

Temperatures will remain near or slightly above freezing Monday night, causing most roadways to remain wet, according to NWS.

According to the Capital Weather Gang, the light snow might coat grassy areas but probably won’t accumulate on roadways.

Still, any precipitation—let alone the entrancing beauty of large snowflakes—tends to slow traffic in the Washington region.

The snow could change to sleet or rain later in the afternoon before moving on later in the evening, according to WeatherBug. Temperatures should stay in the 30s overnight, then jump back into the 50s on Tuesday.
