DIY Del Ray: Spotlight on Local Artists

Take a closer look at some talented individuals creating masterpieces in Del Ray.

There is no shortage of talent and creativity in Del Ray. With August's First Thursday focused on artists, we thought it would be an opportune time to reintroduce some of the local artists we've featured this past year on DIY Del Ray. 

Amber Kendrick, Ceramics — This yoga instructor, former architect and now ceramic and glass artist designs and creates handmade plates and serving dishes which can be found in fine-dining restaurants around the Washington, D.C. area.

Sue Henry, Textiles — In her basement studio, Sue transforms her love for art and travel into unique textiles, crafted from hand-sculpted linoleum wood blocks.

Sediment Press, Screen Printing — Two talented artists celebrate the ancient art of silkscreen printing, all within the confines of a tiny one-bedroom apartment.

Patricia Uchello, Painter — Patricia is a successful and prolific painter who displays her work permanently at in Del Ray and in four other galleries in the surrounding area.

Susan Miranda, Mixed Media — Susan is an art teacher at a local coop preschool and she creates art in her free time in a variety of mediums. She is also a cofounder of the UpCycle Creative Reuse Center.

Graciela Testa Lynt, Ceramics — In a shed turned studio, Graciela expresses her passion and enormous talent working with clay. Her work is functional, organic and, most of all, beautiful.
