Yates Corner to Open in December

New development will include a 7-Eleven, dry cleaners, office space and a yet-to-be-determined restaurant tenant.

The Yates Corner redevelopment project at the intersection of Braddock Road and Mount Vernon Avenue is expected to be complete in December and Yates Service, Inc. is looking to hire employees for its businesses in the new complex.

The development is confirmed to feature a new 7-Eleven, office space for the nearby Yates Automotive and a new Yates Green Dry Cleaners. Yates Service is assuming management of the new 7-Eleven in the complex. It did not manage the former 7-Eleven at the site.

Yates is hosting a job fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23 at its automotive center located at 317 E. Braddock Rd. for many positions, including:

  • 7-Eleven — Cashiers, shift supervisors and assistant managers
  • Yates Green Dry Cleaners — Cashiers, dry-cleaning techs and an assistant manager
  • Yates Automotive — Mechanics, service writers, sales associates, lot porter and car detailers.

The concept plan approved in June 2011 described a mixed-use development for commercial use “consisting of a free-standing 3,000 square foot 7-Eleven building on the east end of the site; an 18,000 square-foot two-story retail/office/auto service building on the west part of the site; and a two-level parking structure (one level below grade) behind the buildings with a small surface parking lot between the two buildings.”

A circular-shaped pedestrian plaza with landscaping at the corner of Braddock Road and Mount Vernon Avenue was part of the approved proposal.

The development includes 3,000 square feet of space for a yet-to-be determined restaurant tenant.

Heather Holland, director of operations with Yates, said the new development has garnered interest from multiple restaurants.

“We’re just working through the process of that now,” she said.

The complex will also include executive offices on the top floor. Yates is in the process of leasing those out as well, Holland said.
