9 a.m. Monday update — The 7-Eleven is not open yet. There's still a "1 More Day" sign in the median on Braddock Road.

The new 7-Eleven at the Yates Corner development is expected to open Monday in the 400 block of E. Braddock Road.

It is the first business to open at the new complex.

Yates Service has assumed management of the new 7-Eleven. It did not manage the former 7-Eleven at the site.

That convenience store closed in September 2012 to make way for the construction of the new complex.

The concept plan approved in June 2011 described a mixed-use development for commercial use “consisting of a free-standing 3,000 square foot 7-Eleven building on the east end of the site; an 18,000 square-foot two-story retail/office/auto service building on the west part of the site; and a two-level parking structure (one level below grade) behind the buildings with a small surface parking lot between the two buildings.”

A circular-shaped pedestrian plaza with landscaping at the corner of Braddock Road and Mount Vernon Avenue was part of the approved proposal.

The development includes 3,000 square feet of space for a restaurant tenant. Other use in the complex will include office space for the nearby Yates Automotive and a new Yates Green Dry Cleaners.

I just walked past the 7-11 on the way to the Metro. Looks like it's not open yet. The butcher paper is still covering the windows and the sign still says opening in 1 day.

They had the one-day sign yesterday, too, so perhaps they did back it up.

I heard that Rite-Aid was going into that complex
