Toyotas, Nissan, Honda, Mazda Automakers Announce Recalls

Some of the vehicles may have defective airbag sensors or inflators.

Defective airbag sensors or inflators have triggered a recall of 3.4 million vehicles worldwide, according to Reuters.

Autos made by Toyota, Nissan, Hondas, and Mazdas are impacted.

The faulty airbag device manufactured by Takata may “produce excessive internal pressure causing the inflators to rupture upon deployment of the air bag,” according to the recall notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The automakers have said that there have been no injuries as a result of the airbags, Reuters reports. The cars that were affected were all manufactured in or after the year 2000, according to Reuters.

According to the NHTSA, owners of the cars with the defective airbags will be notified by their manufacturers.

“Dealers will inspect vehicles, and where a defective air bag inflator is identified, the inflator will be replaced, free of charge,” the notice reads.

Owners can also contact their vehicle manufacturer for more information.
