Ribbon-Cutting Held at New Del Ray BB&T Branch

Bank branch officially opened April 8.

The Del Ray Business Association held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new BB&T branch located in the 1900 block of Mount Vernon Avenue during the First Thursday street festival.

Located next to Fabulous Frocks of Alexandria, the bank opened its doors on April 8. The bank was a sponsor of Thursday's festival.

“As Mount Vernon Avenue continues to grow and expand, it's never a bad thing to see banks continue to be here,” said Alexandria Mayor Bill Euille. “It's a sign of success.”

The branch is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The branch is closed on Sunday. It also includes an enclosed ATM on the corner of Mount Vernon and East Bellefonte avenues.

Anyone notice the guy in the sunglasses and jeans, all the way to the right, holding the cardboard cut out of Michelle Obama in a aqua-marine blue dress? What's up with all that buffoonery? Was there a quota that a certain amount of Democrats had to be posing for the shot, and they were under by one, so the guy scrambled to get Michelle Obama's cardboard cut out in the picture? Come on people. There are clown pictures, but this one looks like the whole circus train broke down in Del Ray with the guy in the sunglasses stooging the shot. He's probably at home now saying "Nyuk! Nyuk! Nyuk!"

Umm, Sherry, that's Dana Lawhorne. He's Alexandria's Sherriff and hardly a buffon.

The First Lady cutout was in reference to her being invited to but unable to attend First Thursday.

well, no one has ever claimed Sherry H was smart or well-informed; if you look over her various comments on Patch, her strong suit is name-calling
