Renovated McDonald's Reopens at Wilson & George Mason

Restaurant now features plasma-screen televisions, free Wi-Fi access.

After about four months of renovation, the McDonald's restaurant on the corner of Wilson Boulevard and George Mason Drive has reopened.

The remodeling included adding contemporary interiors and exteriors, upgrading infrastructure and increasing the restaurant's capacity.

"McDonald’s wants to show customers that they can change with their times and needs, while retaining the basic principles that have made them the global iconic brand they are today," according to a statement from McDonald’s Family Restaurants of Greater Washington, D.C.

The design incorporated materials and colors to adapt to the community while maintaining brand consistency, according to the statement. The landscaping, for instance, was designed to compliment and blend in to the surrounding area.

The restaurant wanted a "consistent, modern" feeling inside. Natural materials and areas create spaces within a space, according to the statement. The restaurant has zoned, contemporary seating, furniture and spaces that fits with customers' lifestyles — classified as fast, linger or social.

The renovated McDonald's, at 5009 Wilson Blvd, also features plasma-screen televisions and free Wi-Fi access.

It's more than a remodeling--they replaced the entire building.
